X48 hours later

A big congratulations and well done to everyone who took part in the Birmingham leg of X48 this weekend, and especially to the organisers Pixel Lab. After 48 (27 to be precise) hoursĀ  it was phenomenal to see what had been accomplished by the teams over such an intense period of time.

The theme of the event was ‘Discovery’ and although there was a generous portion of space based games it was interesting to see how people had interpreted and worked with the theme in creative ways.

The winning game was .dot, by team Fishtank from Aberystwyth, a delightfully mysterious and innovative game. When presenting even the menu page alone was enough make the audience coo in admiration, again not bad for 27 hours of hard graft.

But as always its not the winning (although I guess it helps) but the taking part that counts, and even those who came away without a game still felt they’d learned a lot from taking part and were eager to take on the challenge again next year.

If you want to catch up on the weekends action then visit the X48 blog, Flickr, Vimeo, and tweets. A full list of prizes and winners can be found on the official X48 site.
